Breakfast buffet, staffs were nice. Also modest sized flat screen TV in the lounge was a nice touch to help forget about all the unexpected surprises came with the room.
Location is good but I was quite concerned about losing my parking spot when I returned.

We were given room 820. It's facing directly to Lake Taupo and you can see Mount Ruapehu twin peaks. Room is clean and beds are comfortable.

Great eating out, some a little overpriced however.
Great eating out, some a little overpriced however. Monday is a very quiet night for eating out!
For a good unpretentious meal try Cobb and Co. The Vine has a vast range of goodies. The Indian restaurants are all good.

A very nice town.
A very nice town. Small enough to be charming, large enough to have many choices for nearby activities and dining. We stayed here as a base for seeing things in Rotorua as well which was only a hour drive away, though some of the best thermal parts near Rotorua are only 40 minutes away.

1-2 days maximum is more than enough.
1-2 days maximum is more than enough. Food their is great and beautiful coffee, but do keep in mind everything is expensive as it is a tourist spot. Otherwise great location to visit. I visited Huka falls and Wairakei terrace hot pools which was an amazing experience.

Was not in Taupo long but what I saw looked good.
Was not in Taupo long but what I saw looked good. Smaller town with a nice atmosphere. Plenty of places to eat, things to see and do. Getting around Taupo in peak hours is a challenge so time your travel.

We just wanted the best affordable accommodation as we were...
We just wanted the best affordable accommodation as we were passing through to spend the day with family then returned again the next night. Loved having a comfortable and spacious hotel type room to relax in after a long drive.
We had a family room, which although not what we needed was all that was available with our last minute booking. It had plenty of space for the 2 of us but may have been cramped for a family of 4, but I guess that applies to most motels. Everything was clean and tidy and the room facilities were more than enough for our 3 day stay. Although we were about 2.5km from the centre of Taupo we were only about 100m from the lake shore and the walk into Taupo could be easily made using the walkway along the lake shore. We did it a couple of times.
We stayed at many hotels during our tour of New Zealand. Lake Taupo Motor Inn stands out as the best of the best. Why? Because it ticks all the boxes - friendly staff (they let us check-in early - really appreciated this), a quick and stress-free check-in, huge rooms (with a patio!), fantastic location - town center and the lake both a short walk away. Can park right up to your room, makes things much easier with heavy suitcases, And great value for money. It deserves all the stars.
Very nice and Super clean hotel , The Manager was very friendly and helped us a lot , Parking was very convenient, location was perfect - restaurants and shops very near and also the Taupo lake was near -me and my family enjoyed Taupo and staying in Ashbrook motel - Should've stayed more ..
well sized mini apartments with great kitchen facilities. Very contemporary, clean and well appointed, our unit would have suited two couples or family of 4. Quiet location just outside the shopping area of Taupo but within walking distance. Instantly contactable friendly staff by phone.
My family holiday in Taupo every year, we have been staying at Le Chalet Suisse for the past 10 years. It has everything we need, pool, spa, spa bath, beautiful view of the lake, great staff, and amazing location, easy walking distance to town and resturants.
We stayed here 3 years ago before the pandemic and then again last week. A complete reduction in services, staff, etc., but it works for us. Great little vacation home rather than a motel/ hotel room. The weather was terrible so we stayed an extra day.
Amazing views from the hilltop. Beautiful sunrise on morning. The hosts are extremely accommodating and we had a wonderful time. The dogs are so friendly and breakfast was delicious! If we are ever near Lake Taupo again we'll be staying here!
Location to lakefront swimming. Quaint room with frig. Good restaurant in Hotel proximity with a Nice view of lake Taupo.
Parking convenient.
Their jacuzzi was hot, great for after lake ( cold this Summer) swim. Which was appreciated.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Even though NZ is becoming more pet friendly, choices are limited if you can’t leave your four footed family member at home. We find Cascades to be the best pet friendly motel in Taupo.
Great place to stay, beautiful hotel, room with sunrise and sunset views right in front of the lake, very clean and tidy, with friendly staff. The best lakefront hotel in Taupo. Will definitely be returning when in Taupo.
This was a great room, with spa and lake view. Breakfast on the balcony was a perfect way to start the day, and a cocktail watching the sun set a perfect way to end it. Will definitely stay there again if in Taupo
Don is amazing. It felt like a family member was welcoming us home. The place was clean, overlooking lake Taupō. It has good space to spread out! Thank you for the bag of chocolates on our arrival as well!
Location is perfect, close to the lake. Easy to find the restaurant around the motel. The environment is good and the reception is very kindly. We'll book again if go to Taupo next time.
Very comfortable motel style accommodation with large spa bath fillable with naturally heated water. Room equipped for eating and glimpses over Lake Taupo. Staff welcoming.
