Location was handy from the main train station but not a very exciting area. Breakfast was ok and was strongly Japanese in flavour. Public bath was great after a day of walking in the area.

A great location and clean, but it’s all the little extras that make it better; a free cocktail every night, all the great tea, coffee and drinks. The staff are very professional and warm and the bathhouse is a great bonus. The balcony on the room is a bonus. All the little extras make it a great stay, thank you.

Getting around Kyoto is easy, either by bus, train or taxi. Eating good food is something you don't have to worry about in Kyoto. Had visited Kyoto for the 5th time and will definitely come back again ☺️

Kyoto is a beautiful, traditional town.
Kyoto is a beautiful, traditional town. There are so many iconic spots to visit but unfortunately the numbers of tourists are maybe getting a little out of hand. We like to travel independently so we had a chance to see how many tourists on bus tours just seemed not to respect and value what was on offer in Kyoto. I would absolutely recommend a visit to Kyoto, see the iconic temples and gardens and absolutely partake in a Tea Ceremony but perhaps choose a quieter time to travel so that you can really appreciate Kyoto's value.

Kyoto is the previous capital of Japan, so it has numerous historical places to visit. The mixture of tradition and modern technology makes the trip even more interesting. English is used in many public places like trains, buses, street signs, etc. Therefore, you would not come into challenges because of the language. Kyoto is a touristic place, and there are many attractions which you could easily find through internet and google maps. Night life of Kyoto is amazing. You can find many restaurants and clubs to go during the night. A host of temples and shrines exist in Kyoto. Fushimi Inari was amazing. Bamboo forest was very good, but do not spend all of a morning/afternoon there. I liked the market of Kyoto as well. I found the prices lower than Osaka and Tokyo. As I mentioned, I also visited Osaka, Nara, and Tokyo, but I found Kyoto more interesting than these cities. Kyoto has its own traditional structure rather than these modern cities.

Beautiful city that allows you to explore and learn about Japan's history and culture. The pace of life is slower than Tokyo and the people are more open for a conversation. It seems that Kyoto is facing challenges in accommodating the significant influx number of tourists, as it was very difficult for us to find available restaurant for dinner. Most are either reserved out or have long waiting line every single night.

Kyoto is so crowded !
Kyoto is so crowded ! Unfortunately it lost the charm I’m assuming it used to have because you are swimming through CROWDS of bodies (like at Disney World) I would go back to Japan in a heartbeat but probably not to Kyoto. There are so many other stunning places in Japan that haven’t been ruined by tourism yet. Japan is an incredible country…..probably one of my favorites in the whole world. It’s just Kyoto that is too crazy

The AOI hotel we stayed in was AWSOME!
The AOI hotel we stayed in was AWSOME! Strongly recommend it. Beds were extremely comfortable, 12 ft ceiling allowed for cooled atmosphere, the room was spacious and had absolutely everything that a traveller would need, including a magnifying makeup mirror. Also a delicate music was provided via an iPad. Everyday the cleaning service was provided which made the room immaculate over and over. The bathroom facility was spectacular, with rainforest shower head and a shampoo, body wash, conditioner, toothbrush/toothpaste, hairbrush etc provided. The artwork was of an excellent taste and matched the ambiance of the room. First class service.
Firstly I loved the look and feel of this hotel, it felt very traditional and true to the Kyoto area with a modern twist. The onsen (traditional hot spring pool) was amazing and felt like a luxury which many other more expensive hotels don’t have. The room although simple was lovely (although it felt a bit smaller than the pictures). Breakfast was good (but not the best we had compared to the hotels we stayed in Japan). Finally the location was perfect, just minutes away from the Gion district and many restaurants and temples.
I booked a single room with shared bathroom. The room was very small but it was no surprise for Japan :) The restroom was very clean, the staff friendly, the breakfast was offered in a café nearby, just 30 steps from the hotel. It might not be the best one in town, but sufficient to start the day with energy :) The hotel is quiet and yet in a good position, not so far from Gion, has shopping facilities not far away and is at walking distance from the station (more or less 20 minutes or a subway stop)
The room was very cute and comfortable. I do like that the light function controls are right next to the bed, so it was very convenient. The light behind the bed screen was the best. I loved the dimming functions and it looked very cool. Also, the window shades were amazing strong. No light seeped through, so we slept comfortably in the morning. The train station was about 2 minutes away from the hotel. The staff was the best, the girls who assisted us were extremely helpful and friendly.
The hotel is in walking distance from Kyoto Station and just a 15 minute walk away from Gion. There are some bus stops nearby from where you can easily reach all the sightseeing spots around Kyoto. The breakfast was nothing fancy but good and the free coffee and softdrink bar is definitely a plus. One of the best things was the happy hour! It was super nice to round off the day with free drinks in the lobby and chat with some of the other guests :)
This was a clean, modern hotel in an ideal location (for us) in Kyoto. The room was exceptionally comfortable and well-appointed, and the hotel was walking distance to metro and train stations and bus stops, Gion, and downtown Kyoto restaurants and shopping. One of the top two hotels we stayed at in Japan, and probably the best value for money. The free evening reception (wine/beer and snacks) was a nice element as well. Staff was very helpful.
This was probably our best stay from our 3 week trip to Japan. If you want to stay in the center of Kyoto, close to major touristic spots, but also far from the noise and busy crowds, please book this hotel.
You have plenty of space, the room is clean and comfy. We honestly could not have asked for more.
Is relatively close to subway, and bus station. The staff was helpful, assisting us when we send our luggages using Yamato service.
The room is huge! The subway station is a very short walking distance, so convenient, lots of supermarkets and restaurants nearby. Having a kitchen in the room made things so much easier and the room even has a smart tv, so we got to stream our favourite shows when we just wanted to wind down from a long day outside. The staff are so nice and helpful, this is by far the best out of the 5 hotels I have stayed in while in Japan.
Everything. This hotel was perfect and the best hotel I’ve stayed in in Japan. Hotel itself is gorgeous and very very clean. Hotel staff is very very friendly, nice and respectful. Tons of amenities provided, facilities are great (this is the first hotel I’ve stayed where they provided baskets for laundry). Do yourself a favour and stay here if you’re in Kyoto and looking for a place in the city centre close to Kyoto station.
The bathroom was exceptional very beautifully designed. The room was clean and quite. The bathroom products were excellent as was the tea. Also the breakfast is a must include. It is one of the best buffets I have ever had. Both traditional American, European and Japanese breakfast was offered. It is about a 10 walk from the train station and a straight walk to hotel with no turns.
The location is great, even though Kyoto station is very confusing and this hotel is the other side of main station, it's close and we could walk with our luggage easily. The room was nice with a terrace but it was raining during our stay, we didn't use it. What we loved was the public bath! It's not onsen (hot spring) but to relax after busy, long day, it's the best.
The space of the room was the biggest of all the hotels we stayed at in Japan. We loved the proximity to the train station, since we used Kyoto as a base so we could travel fast from it to the surrounding cities. The staff was nice, and it was always clean. Best decision we made in our trip.
Everything was amazing. The whole hotel looks new and clean. Breakfast had good choices and everything we tried were delicious. Staff can speak english. Bathroom was the best I have seen in a hotel. Strategic location since the subway station is literally just beside the hotel.
a cosy boutique hotel which had the basic amenities available at the Reception. Was a bit of a walk from the train station and was not practical to lug bags there. Best to take a taxi from the train station. Small rooms but we were comfortable. Friendly staff.
We have stayed in few hotels in Japan but this was by far the best one!
5 star service with very comfortable room and breakfast delivered to your door. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Great location and big comfortable room.
Great hotel about 10 minutes walk to JR station. It's on the south side of the Kyoto JR station. The room was bigger than what we expected and the bathroom design was the best we had seen so far on our Japan trip.
Well-designed cozy room with a small Japanese corner. Lobby lounge with free coffee and small snacks is the best. Great location within a 5min walk to Pontocho Street. Subway station is right next to the hotel.
Location. View from rooms. Spacious rooms. Very comfortable. Great service and staff. The location is the best. Right at the train station, close to restaurants and shopping malls. Temples, etc. Excellent hotel
Very close to Kyoto station. The best part of this hotel is its proximity to the Kyoto station. Very convenient in terms of commuting. The rooms are clean and the toilet is good.
best hotel I’ve stayed at ever. great space for families and excellent location next to train station, multiple restaurants, mall and convenience stores
